At the beginning of 2024, Julian Armstrong, proprietor of Anju, The Wilder, and The Wallingford Dram, was looking to update their websites. We wanted to give them a unique look and feel (because each spot was so different) while also keeping them much the same (to show their relation).
We built out three distinct websites on the same design template – one for each location. Anju, a noodle bar, is a little bit more playful than the other two, so we incorporated brighter colors, fun fonts, and bold photo choices. The Dram is the most intimate little bar you’ve ever been to, so small and amazing you’ll want to come back without a doubt. The Dram itself is quite dark and a bit mysterious, so we kept with that theme through the website. The Wilder is similar to the Dram in that respect, but it’s also a little bit funkier – more *hipster,* if you will.
Towards the end of 2025, Julian wanted another refresh. Both the Anju website and the site for The Wilder got a little redesign. Featuring our photography, we designed and developed a new site for Anju, complementing the redesign of The Wilder’s.
Anju Noodle Bar is a favorite in the foreside, and it needed a visual refresh to be seen as the casual, fun meet-up spot it is. We started with a website redesign to take them from basic to stand-out.
More fun banner strips, a simplified color palette, and some bomb new photos. The perfect recipe for an awesome new Anju website. Check it out here.
For both The Dram + Anju we also got to update their menus. The basic task? To streamline them, make them easier to navigate and understand while keeping them true to their style and personality.
Julian came to us to talk about Anju’s menu design because their menu was pretty disorganized + needed to be updated so it made sense from a visitor perspective. Our task? How could we best direct people through the menu to make their food + drink choices while also presenting it in a fun way?
We created a simple, easy to follow new menu design for them so customers could find what they were looking for with ease without Anju having to sacrifice its style.
Custom photography was a *must* for Anju. We wanted to make sure their noods looked their absolute best. We had our photoshoot at Anju (such a long journey for us from all the way upstairs) with Kaitlyn assisting (and modeling for) Meg. Truly, the dream team.
With plates and bowls of noodles coming steadily out of the kitchen, we got right to work –finding the right lighting, climbing on chairs to get the right angles + staring, mesmerized at the fish flakes moving on the okonomiyaki.
Working with Julian is always a good time + swiping some noodles to go after the shoot certainly sweetens the deal. Our continued work with Julian + his ventures thrives off our friendship with him. We keep working with him because we enjoy it + that’s something we’re trying to lean into.
Check out the work we’ve done for Anju’s siblings, The Wilder + The Wallingford Dram.
