Design Trends for 2025: The New Aesthetics for Modern Brands

Similarly to last year with our blog post 2024 Graphic Design Trends We Can Get Behind, this year we wanted to make a few predictions on which design trends we think will be building the new aesthetics for modern brands in 2025.

As always, we think it’s important to make sure any design you put out aligns with your brand’s overall look and message. Using trends can be helpful and fun, but make sure you’re picking the right trends for the right designs.

Looking for some inspiration? Here’s the top 5 design trends we’re predicting for 2025.

Bold Minimalism

We’ve talked about minimalism a lot in our design trend blogs, but there’s a slightly more nuanced style of minimalism on the rise this year. Sometimes referred to as bold minimalism, this style features only a few design elements, but the few that are chosen are heavily emphasized. An example is using bold typography and an eye-catching color palette across a plain background. This style brings a bold, hard-hitting new twist to the minimalism everyone loves.

Futuristic

We’re headed into the future, and brands want to take us there asap. Lately there’s been a rise in the use of metallic and chrome hues to create a futuristic aesthetic that we think is here to stay. It’s not just graphic design either – chrome nails and sleek metal packaging on beauty products are helping immerse us in this futuristic world with no signs of stopping.

Retro

From retro style typography to tech-focused pixels, we’re taking it back a few decades this year. While some brands are looking to create a feeling of nostalgia and whimsy with their retro vibes, like the work we’re doing for June’s Cafe, others are trying to bring us back to the early digital age with pixelated typography.

Two sides of the same coin, both these retro based design trends have been growing in popularity lately and are sure to stick around.

Textured Backgrounds

Textured backgrounds, especially grainy backgrounds, are being used more and more to add depth, movement, and a sense of imperfection to designs. On Instagram, many of the top filters recommended for use in stories feature grain. This simple addition can make your piece feel more raw, real, and even edgy.

Hand-Crafted

Perhaps as a counter to the rise of AI design, we predict that this year will bring an increase in designs that are clearly hand-crafted. Whether it’s through the use of hand-written text or hand-drawn illustrations, we love this trend and hope it sticks around for a long while.

Experiment with some of these new trends to figure out what works best for you and how you can seamlessly integrate modern elements into your designs to breathe some new life into your creations!
