The holidays can be a busy time for many small businesses. From holiday sales to special events and promotions to celebrate, it can be a lot to think about and plan. Making the content on your Instagram feed feel festive can be a challenge, but it doesn’t always have to be as difficult as it may seem.

Customers appreciate an aesthetic feed with professional photography shots (which reCreative would happily help your business with), but that doesn’t mean every single shot has to be polished and corporate-looking. Sometimes the originality of images taken by employees or business owners themselves adds to the personality of the brand, making it feel more authentic and “real.”

Images directly from the business in real-time also lend themselves to easy holiday content, no Photoshop required. For LiveWire Bristol, we unfortunately can’t be there to take a ton of product shots, especially not ones that are specific to each season and holiday. This means that we’re often posting the same photos (straight from corporate) as other LiveWire dealerships, making it hard to stand out and differentiate the Bristol site.

To help the Instagram account shine a bit, we had the sales manager take the LiveWires out for a spin and get some shots outside of the dealership. By nature of being in New England, we knew these shots would have trees with some beautiful fall foliage starting up in the background. We were lucky enough that he was also able to find a pumpkin patch where he got some pictures of the bikes with pumpkins, really leaning into the fall spirit.

Posting these images on the LiveWire Instagram and other social accounts helped to personalize the account while also adding a festive element to the feed as a whole. It really can be as simple as finding some colorful leaves and taking a few quick product shots with the foliage as a backdrop. Incorporating imagery attached to a specific holiday or season into your marketing content can help make your feed feel festive and in season.

Over the next couple of months while the holiday season gains momentum, consider taking a few pictures with subtle (or not so subtle) holiday references included. You can still post your professional pics and add posters or designs that don’t have images at all, but these pictures can help your overall feed tell a visual holiday story rather than making it feel choppy and jarring when you suddenly send out a holiday-related post.

The goal is to appeal to the emotions of your audience, making them feel cozy in the fall and joyful in December. Simple additions to your feed can accomplish this and make your feed tell a cohesive visual story without hours of editing and staring at Photoshop.

Consider a pumpkin like LiveWire for October, a turkey stuffed animal for Thanksgiving, a menorah for Hanukkah, or a Santa hat for Christmas. Small things can help make your feed feel and look festive.
