During the holiday season, we’re all liable to start receiving tons of holiday-related emails and ads. All of us are familiar with the increase in inbox notifications and advertisements that pop up as the holidays grow closer and closer.
Many of these get lost in the crowd and end up ignored in favor of other ads with more grabbing visuals. How can you make sure your marketing stands out and sticks with people above others? One way is by using motion graphics and animations.
The vast majority of the marketing materials being pushed upon audiences are static images and infographics. Adding in some movement to your ads, social media posts, and emails can help your business catch your audience’s attention and keep their interest for longer. This small change can help bring your holiday marketing to the next level.
The eye is drawn to movement, pulling your viewer’s attention away from other static ads and towards your moving one. It may seem simple like we’re going back in time to when everyone was awed by the first “moving picture,” but the success of ad campaigns with motion graphics speaks for itself. We’re all still more intrigued by motion than stillness. People love a good story, and motion graphics allow you to tell more of a narrative story than still images.
In our year-round, weekly email campaigns for Yankee Harley-Davidson, we incorporate gifs of the bikes, using movement to make the emails more interesting and dynamic. Adding these gifs every so often helps captivate the attention of those receiving the emails so they stop and check out the bikes instead of scrolling on.
We also love to make animations for social posts to add a little extra flair to people’s feeds. The Wilder had us make some of their event posters into animations to catch their audience’s eye and stop the endless scrolling on Instagram.
Using motion graphics in your ads will increase your engagement rates and lead to a better return on your holiday ad campaigns. The holidays are a busy time, but also competitive and short. It’s important to do everything you can to leverage the festivities in your favor.
Just because it’s a time when people are buying more across the board doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll see more sales without putting in any effort or strategy.
Adding animations and motion graphics to your holiday marketing efforts can help you stand out and ensure your business makes the most of this holiday season.
