Spicing Up an Old Site: Big Results with Little Dollars

Sometimes, no matter how much we long to do a full refresh, it’s just not in the cards. Companies with sites that are no longer working (literally) don’t always have the budget to do a whole, sitewide refresh. But we can still make big changes with little dollars.

A long-standing client of ours, Presbyterian Senior Care Network, has a *very* old website for one of their communities, Shenango on the Green. Even though the site is essentially unusable after years without updates, they aren’t able to spend the money it would take to fully revamp the site.

The big problem? Their site isn’t getting the traffic or generating the leads they need it to. Our solution: a microsite that focused on their independent living, specifically the three floor plans with the most availability.

We designed a beautiful, easy to use, three page microsite with updated versions of the floor plans (probably last updated in the 90s) to breathe new life into these apartments. Was it hard to hold ourselves back from totally updating the site back to working condition? Yes. But the microsite helped them generate new leads without spending a fortune. A shiny bandaid, if you will.

The microsite is simple, easy to use and navigate, and gives the floor plans so much more possibility in the eyes of a potential buyer. Updating the floor plans so they’re no longer pixelated, fuzzy, and off-center makes a world of difference. Now, they look clean, clear, and elegant. With just a few pages, the site gets right to the point and is impossible to get lost on.

While we’d love to update all pages, the microsite is a good, less expensive, less extensive solution that will help them get by in the meantime.

The moral of the story? You don’t have to spend a fortune to make an impact. There are tons of solutions that can make a big difference with a little budget.
