Ten Years In: How We Got Here, What We’ve Built, and What’s Next
Ten years ago, reCreative + Co. didn’t exist — not by name, anyway. We were a small design studio in Connecticut, operating under a different moniker (Frankenstein reCreative, for those who remember). Our first clients were a mix of craft breweries and senior living communities. A strange combination at first glance, but it taught us how to tell layered, strategic stories for real people and real businesses.
Those early days shaped who we are. We weren’t chasing flash or trends. We were focused on building something durable: branding that holds up, websites that function beautifully, and photography that captures truth and texture.
In 2020, we relocated to coastal Maine and rebranded as reCreative + Co. The move gave us breathing room — creatively and physically — to evolve into the studio we are now. We expanded our team, refined our services, and deepened our relationships with clients across the Seacoast and beyond. Over the years, we’ve partnered with restaurants, nonprofits, senior care organizations, and local businesses to create work that balances clarity with character.
This year, as we celebrate our tenth anniversary, we’re also proud to share some exciting news: we’ve been named finalists in the 2025 World Food Photography Awards in the “World of Drinks” category. The nominated image was taken at The Wilder in Portsmouth, one of our longtime collaborators and favorite local haunts. The photo captures what we love most about food and drink photography — a little grit, a little elegance, and a whole lot of atmosphere.
Along the way, our work has been recognized with a handful of awards we’re proud of:
• Three GDUSA Awards for Excellence in Graphic Design
• Entrepreneur of the Year from the CT Entrepreneur Awards
• A CT Ad Club win for the packaging design of Cold Creek Brewery
• Another CT Ad Club win for our Original photography of Brewery Legitimus
• The Generous Spirit Award from Beautiful People Adaptive Sports
Awards are nice. But what matters more are the relationships we’ve built and the stories we’ve had the privilege to help tell. Ten years in, we’re still rooted in the same values we started with: strategic design, ethical storytelling, and creative work that works harder than it looks.
Thanks for being part of the story. Here’s to the next chapter.
